Through-Wall Bushing Insulators
Description and application
Through-wall bushing insulators, made of high-quality epoxy resin, are designed for the safe passage of electrical conductors through earthed metal partitions, substation walls, transformer enclosures and switchgear cells. Thanks to the excellent dielectric and mechanical properties of epoxy, these insulators guarantee maximum reliability and stability.
The insulator's construction provides high resistance to dynamic stresses caused by short-circuit currents, successfully preventing the occurrence of creepage currents and potential breakdowns in substations.
Mounting and maintenance
Mounting is carried out inside enclosed electrical power facilities by fixing the insulator's flange to the supporting structure using the provided bolted connections. Bus-bars or conductors must be properly centred and tightened to the declared torque values to ensure optimal contact and prevent overheating.
During the operation of epoxy insulators, almost no maintenance is required. During regular scheduled outages, a visual inspection is recommended, along with checking the tightness of the terminal connections and wiping the insulator surface clean of accumulated dust and other contamination with a dry cloth.
